Marjorie is in her final year of biology with a concentration in plant sciences at Lakehead University. In collaboration with the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, she is exploring how benthic invertebrate abundance and diversity differ between characteristic vegetation types at Hurkett Cove Conservation Area. She will specifically examine differences in benthic communities under wild rice with invasive narrow-leaf cattail to understand potential ecological impacts in wetlands related to nutrient cycling and aquatic food web structure.
