In their final year at LU studying conservation and biodiversity in biology, Malakai decided to look into environmental effects on the growth, survival and phenotype of hybrid swordtail fish, after working with them in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico in spring of 2024 at the CICHAZ field station in Calnali, Mexico (https://www.cichaz.org/). This work is in collaboration with Dr. Gil Rosenthal at the Università Degli Studi di Padova in Italy.
